Scorpion vetch (Coronilla coronata)
Scorpion vetch (Coronilla coronata), a perennial that flowers from May to July, growing in runnels in the Loulle Jurassic limestone pavement, Jura, France. The greenish yellow pea-shaped flowers (it is a legume) are formed in a ring at the end of each stalk. The limestone karst, cut by runnels and cavities, is known as lapiaz and provides environments for many lime loving plants., Photo by MARTYN F. CHILLMAID/SCIENCE PHOTO LIBRARY
