Banana (Musa sp.) fruit stalk, light micrograph
Bright field light micrograph of a cross-section through the fruit stalk of a banana. As usual in monocotyledonous plants, the vascular bundles are distributed in the parenchyma. By staining with safranin and aniline blue, lignified cell walls show a red staining, non-lignified cell walls a blue staining.
