Pleurothallis marthae orchid. Pleurothallis is a genus of orchids more commonly known as bonnet orchids. Pleurothallis marthae shows how the usually small flowers grow from the leaf base. Its occurrence is restricted to the American continent, north and south, but most widespread in central and south America where the diversity is notably high in the Amazon basin and the cloud forests of the high Andes.
