Jupiter, James Webb Telescope image
Jupiter, composite James Webb Telescope image. This image uses three infrared filters to highlight different features of the gas giant planet. Aurorae above the north and south poles are red. Hazes swirling around the two poles are green and yellow. Light reflected from deeper main cloud is blue at lower altitudes and white at higher altitudes. The clouds of the Great Red Spot (lower right), a large storm system that has lasted for at least a few hundred years, appear white. Image obtained by the Near-Infrared Camera (NIRCam)., by NASA, ESA, CSA, Jupiter ERS Team; Judy Schmidt/SCIENCE PHOTO LIBRARY
