Arson attack on the headquarters of the Liberal Democratic Party
(September 20, 1984)
On the night of September 19, 1984, two trucks parked on the north side of the headquarters of the Liberal Democratic Party in Nagata-cho, Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo, were set on fire by a timed flame-throwing device, which spewed flames toward the building. The building was destroyed by fire for more than two hours. On the same night, the Mainichi Shimbun received a phone call claiming to be from the Core Faction Revolutionary Army, and the Core Faction later admitted to the crime in its official newspaper.
