Tokyo Station red brick station building opens. Reproduction of the exterior appearance of the station as it was when it was first built
October 1, 2012, Tokyo, Japan - The Tokyo Station building is opened on this October 1st, after a five year restoration project. The building includes new commercial facilities such as the high-end Daimaru Deparment Store and the Tokyo Station Hotel, which will open on Wednesday 3rd October. The Tokyo Station brick Gothic building was originally constructed in 1914. In 1923 it was damaged by the Great Kanto Earthquake, and it was also heavily damaged by bombing raids in 1945.
