NGC 2292 and NGC 2293, HST image
Hubble Space Telescope (HST) image of the early stages of collision between galaxies NGC 2292 and NGC 2293. The galaxies are located 120 million light-years away in the constellation Canis Major and resemble a 'pumpkin'. The glowing eyes of the pumpkin are the star-filled cores of each galaxy containing supermassive black holes. An arm of newly forming stars give the 'pumpkin' a smirk., by NASA/ESA/W.
