Rocking and rolling Niihama Taiko Festival / 1998
Niihama Taikomatsuri festival, one of the three largest festivals in Shikoku, was held for three days from Friday through Sunday in Niihama, Ehime Prefecture. Visitors applauded as the heavy portable shrines were jolted up and down. Each magnificent mikoshi, carried by 150 men, is 5.4 meters high and 11 meters long and weighs 2.5 meters.
