Great East Japan Earthquake
Already 2 years have passed since the catastrophe.
March 8, 2013, Higashi-Matsushima, Japan - A single-track railway of the local railroad cuts through cultivated fields near Higashi-Matsushima, Miyagi Prefecture, on March 8, 2013. The Senseki Line that connects Sendai, the prefectural capital, with the port city of Ishinomaki on the Pacific coast, was severed two years ago on March 11 when the Magnitude 9.0 earthquake and ensuing tsunami struck the nation's northeast region, leaving more than 15,000 people dead and ravaging wide swaths of coastal towns and villages.
