The Great East Japan Earthquake
Two years have already passed since the catastrophe.
March 8, Minami-Sanriku, Japan - Nearly two years have passed but nothing much goes on in this seaside community of Shizugawa, Miyagi Prefecture, on March 8, 2013. The community located deep inside an estuary by the Pacific Ocean was wiped out when the Magnitude 9.0 earthquake and ensuing mounds of tsunami struck the nation's northeast region, leaving more than 15,000 people dead and ravaging wide swaths of coastal towns and villages two years ago on March 11.
