Great East Japan Earthquake
Already 2 years have passed since the catastrophe.
March 9, Rikuzentakata, Japan - Nearly two years have passed only trucks and heavy machines move back and forth in this seaside community of Rikuzentakata, Iwate Prefecture, on March 8. Much of the community located deep inside an estuary by the Pacific Ocean was wiped out when the Magnitude 9.0 earthquake and ensuing mounds of tsunami struck the nation's northeast region, leaving more than 15,000 people dead and ravaging wide swaths of coastal towns and villages two years ago on March 11.
