Wasp head. Stacked macrophotograph of the head of a wasp. The wasps are a cosmopolitan paraphyletic grouping of hundreds of thousands of species. Wasps are social insects. They raise their young in paper nests made of chewed-up wood pulp and feed on insects and carrion. This high protein meat is also fed to the larvae.
