Light micrograph of a lung hamartoma, a benign tumour. Microscopically, the tumour consists of different components including fat (white roughly round space) and cartilage (large purple round structure). This tumour is completely benign and does not carry the risk of invasion into adjacent structures or metastasis (spread to other sites in the body). Haematoxylin and eosin stained tissue section.
