Lee Jae-Myung, January 28, 2023 : Lee Jae-Myung, chair of the main opposition Democratic Party of South Korea waves to his supporters as he appears for questioning in front of the Seoul Central District Prosecutors Office in Seoul, South Korea. The prosecution suspects that Lee Jae-Myung, during his time as Seongnam mayor, provided preferential treatment to private companies in property development project in Seongnam, allowing them to make unfair profits. Lee released a statement on Saturday, refuting all allegations and claimed his innocence, accusing the prosecution of fabricating charges against him and abusing its power for a politically motivated probe of a former presidential election rival of South Korean President Yoon Suk-Yeol, according to local media.
