Space Shuttle astronauts sleeping
Space Shuttle astronauts sleeping. These three astronauts are part of the crew of the Space Shuttle Discovery, flying mission STS-120 to the International Space Station (ISS). They are: NASA astronaut Pam Melroy (lower left), STS-120 commander; NASA astronaut George Zamka (bottom right), pilot; and European Space Agency (ESA) astronaut Paolo Nespoli (upper right), mission specialist. They are sleeping in their sleeping bags on the mid-deck of the Space Shuttle. The sleeping bags are designed to aid sleep in free-fall. Their arms are floating free, but their bodies are restrained and kept in place. Photographed on 1 November 2007.
