Shigeo Nagashima (right) and Hideki Matsui received the National Honor Award. The National Honor Award ceremony for Shigeo Nagashima, 77, honorary manager for life of the Yomiuri Giants professional baseball team, and Hideki Matsui, 38, who retired last year after playing for the Giants and Yankees of the Major League Baseball, was held at Tokyo Dome on May 5. Prime Minister Shinzo Abe presented both men with certificates and commemorative gifts, saying, "The moment they appeared on stage, the audience lit up. This brightness is what we are looking for," he said in his congratulatory address. Prior to the awards ceremony, a retirement ceremony was held for Matsui. Photo taken on May 5, 2013 at Tokyo Dome.
