Anti-Japan and anti-Yoon Suk Yeol candlelight vigil in Seoul
Anti-Yoon Suk Yeol and anti-Japan rally, Mar 11, 2023 : South Korean protesters shout slogans during a candlelight vigil in central Seoul, South Korea. Thousands of people demanded President Yoon resign as they denounced his government's proposed plan to compensate South Korean victims of Japan's wartime forced labor through a Seoul-backed public foundation, instead of direct payment from responsible Japanese firms. The plan was announced by South Korean Foreign Minister on March 6 to resolve the issue of compensating Korean victims who won legal battles against two Japanese firms accused of mobilizing them for hard labour during World War II, when Korea was under Japan's colonization. Signs read, (L-R) 'Organize a special prosecution to investigate Kim Keon-Hee (wife of President Yoon, who manipulated stock price)!', 'Independence' and 'Remove pro-Japanese traitor Yoon Suk Yeol!'.
