Anti-Japan and anti-Yoon Suk Yeol candlelight vigil in Seoul
Anti-Yoon Suk Yeol and anti-Japan rally, Mar 11, 2023 : Holding a mock rising sun flag of Japan disgraced with a portrait of South Korean President Yoon Suk-Yeol, a man attends protest marches in front of the Japanese Embassy in Korea during a candlelight vigil in Seoul, South Korea. Thousands of people demanded President Yoon Suk-Yeol resign as they denounced his government's proposed plan to compensate South Korean victims of Japan's wartime forced labor through a Seoul-backed public foundation, instead of direct payment from responsible Japanese firms. The plan was announced by South Korean Foreign Minister on March 6 to resolve the issue of compensating Korean victims who won legal battles against two Japanese firms accused of mobilizing them for hard labour during World War II, when Korea was under Japan's colonization. Signs read, "Yoon Suk-Yeol resign!" (L) and "Organize a special prosecution to investigate Kim Keon-Hee (wife of President Yoon, who manipulated stock price)!" (R).
