Common fibre vase fungus, SEM
Coloured scanning electron micrograph (SEM) of the spore bed of a common fibre vase fungus (Thelephora terrestris). Spores (round, spiky) are the reproductive cells of a fungus. This fungus lives as an ectomycorrhizal fungus in symbiosis with the roots of trees. This specimen is from the Northern Black Forest National Park, Germany.
