Kokichi Tsuburaya (JPN), OCTOBER 14, 1964 - Athletics : Tokyo Olympics. The Tokyo Olympics began on October 10, 1964, and on October 14, the final of the men's 10,000 meters, the "flower of athletics," was held at the National Stadium. The world's best runners gathered for the 10,000 meters. Kokichi Tsuburaya, a double entrant in the marathon, finished in 6th place, giving him the momentum to win the bronze medal in the marathon.
