Lipid droplets in liver cells, light micrograph
Lipid droplets in liver cells, light micrograph. The normal liver cells, or hepatocytes, contain lipid droplets. The droplets are more frequent near the central vein of the hepatic lobules, which can be demonstrated using osmium tetroxide as fixative. In steatosis or fatty liver disease, the amount of lipid droplets is pathologically very increased., by JOSE CALVO / SCIENCE PHOTO LIBRARY
