FHI Revamps "EyeSight
Next Generation Driving Assistance System
On April 2, Fuji Heavy Industries announced the renewal of its "EyeSight" safety technology, which uses an onboard camera to recognize obstacles and automatically brakes to avoid collisions, and will be available in new models to be launched in 2014. The improved recognition performance of the camera allows the system to quickly detect danger, and the speed at which the automatic braking system is activated has been increased from the current 30 kilometers per hour to 50 kilometers per hour. Naoto Muto, the company's senior managing director, attended the event on the morning of October 2, 2013, in Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo.
