Russia Vostok Base (1967)
Russian Antarctic research station, aerial photograph. This is Vostok station, the most isolated research station on the Antarctic continent. It is located at the southern Pole of Cold, the place in the Southern hemisphere with the lowest recorded air temperature. The station was established on 16th December 1957 and is still used today (2012). Photographed in 1967.
