Tsuruko Ishikawa, 87, laid a bouquet of roses at the Cornerstone of Peace for her younger sister who died at the age of one in Saipan. Her younger sister began crying in the shelter of the approaching U.S. troops, and her father put his hand on her. The father, who was so distressed that he had laid his hands on his young daughter that he committed suicide the year after returning to Okinawa, joined hands with his sister in front of her name, which was added to the Cornerstone of Peace in 2011, saying, "Forgive my father.
