Susaki (1895)
Previously a ward, Fukagawa is currently part of Kotoku, Susaki is now Toyo 1-chome Together with Yoshiwara, this is the first time I've seen this place.) Together with Yoshiwara, this was Tokyo's most famous red light district. It vanished when the Anti-Prostitution Law (Baishun Boushihou), came into force in April 1958 (Showa 33). This image was published in 1895 (Meiji 28) by Kazumasa Ogawa in Scenes of the Eastern Capital of Japan.
