Light micrograph of haematoidin pigment. This golden yellow-brown pigment forms from the metabolism of haemoglobin from extravasated red blood cells, that is red blood cells that have spilled out of damaged blood vessels. Here, the haematoidin pigment is present admixed with inflammatory cells (light and dark purple-blue). Haematoxylin and eosin stained tissue.
