Placenta infarct, light micrograph
Light micrograph of placental villi which have undergone infarction. The villi are the circular, elongated and branching pink structures occupying the full field of the image. Placental infarction is an insignificant finding when a small area of the placenta is affected. Larger areas of the placenta would be affected in frank disease processes.
