Kidney tubules, light micrograph
Light micrograph of tubules (circular structures), in a kidney that have been cut in cross-section. The tubules are lined by cells with round nuclei (dark blue-purple circles). Kidney tubules contribute to the formation and transport of urine within the kidney. Ultimately, the urine is taken to the ureters and collected in the bladder. Haematoxylin and eosin stained tissue section. Magnification: x600 when printed at 10cm wide., by ZIAD M. EL-ZAATARI/SCIENCE PHOTO LIBRARY
