LINE announces new service
Denial of Softbank takeover theory
LINE, a free calling application for smartphones, held a new service presentation "LINE Showcase 2014 Feb. 26," and announced that it will launch a new service called "LINE Phone" in March that will allow users to call cell phones and fixed-line phones other than LINE users at low rates. The number of users, currently about 370 million, is expected to reach 500 million by the end of this year, and the company denied a takeover bid by Softbank, as reported in some media.
