Obokata's misconduct confirmed RIKEN will not conduct a re-investigation
On August 8, RIKEN held a press conference on the issues surrounding the STAP cell paper and announced that it would not conduct a re-investigation into the complaint by research unit leader Haruko Obokata, who was found to have committed research misconduct. This confirmed the finding of research misconduct by Obokata. In addition to recommending that the paper be withdrawn, a disciplinary committee is established to decide on the punishment of Obokata and others in the afternoon of May 8, 2014, in Sumida-ku, Tokyo.
