The U.N. Memorial Cemetery in South Korea
The U.N. Memorial Cemetery, Nov 10, 2023 : Graveyards of British soldiers at the U.N. Memorial Cemetery in Busan, about 420 km (261 miles) southeast of Seoul, South Korea. About 2,300 war veterans from 11 countries are buried at the cemetery, including veterans from Canada, Britain, Australia and Turkey. Twenty one countries sent about 1.96 million soldiers and medics during the 1950-53 Korean War. More than 40,000 of the U.N. troops were killed in action and about 10,000 are still missing, according to local media. The Korean War ended in a truce, not a peace treaty. (Photo by Lee Jae-Won/AFLO)
