South Korean people demand the impeachment of President Yoon Suk-Yeol in Seoul
Protest demanding the impeachment of President Yoon Suk-Yeol, Jan 27, 2024 : South Koreans hold a protest demanding the impeachment of President Yoon Suk-Yeol in central Seoul, South Korea. Thousands of people participated in the rally and they insisted President Yoon is incompetent in national economy, defense and diplomacy. Participants demanded Kim Keon-Hee, wife of President Yoon, to accept investigation by a special prosecution as they insist the first lady has been manipulating state affairs. Kim came under fire after video footage was released in November 2023 of her receiving a Christian Dior bag, valued at around US$2,200 from a Korean American pastor in September 2022. A picket (front) shows disgraced portraits of Yoon Suk-Yeol (L) and Han Dong-Hoon (R), the chief of the ruling People Power Party (PPP) along with a picture of Kim Keon-Hee before she has had plastic surgery done on her face. It reads, "The person who rejects a special prosecution is a criminal!". A picket (L) reads, "Punish pro-Japanese groups". Other red pickets read,"Let's impeach Yoon Suk-Yeol who is a scum and doomed regime". (Photo by Lee Jae-Won/AFLO)
