From a street corner of the world
Tsukiji Fish Market, the "Kitchen" of Tokyoites
(July 2, 2014)
July 2, 2014, Tokyo, Japan - Tukiji fish market, one of the world's largest wholesale mart, is bound to move as Tokyo gets a facelift for the 2020 Olympic Games. Almost 80 years after its opening at the current location, the city plans to move the aging market growing ever more congested and crowded away from prime real-estate in the center of the metropolis worth billions of dollars. Relocating the market and building to a modern facility about 40 per cent larger with state-of-the-art refrigeration will cost upwards of US$3.8 billion. (Photo by Natsuki Sakai/AFLO) AYF -mis-
