Devil's Den, Marlborough, UK
Devil's Den, a dolmen burial chamber on Fyfield Hill near Marlborough, Wiltshire, UK. It dates back thousands of years to the Neolithic period and is part of a wider grave passage in Fyfield Down. It was named after the Devil following the introduction of Christianity to the area. The name was a way to put fear into locals and remind Pagans to convert to the 'true faith'. Two standing stones, a capstone and two fallen stones are all that remain of what was the entrance to a long mound around 70 metres long., by JEREMY WALKER/SCIENCE PHOTO LIBRARY
