Limpets
Limpets (Class Gastropoda). This polyphyletic group of sea snails cling to coastal surfaces using a muscular foot, roaming during high tide to eat algae. They are able to return to the same spot by following a trail of mucus that they leave behind. Eventually their shells wear the rock in this location, creating what is known as a home scar., by SIMON BOOTH/SCIENCE PHOTO LIBRARY
