Sunken bridge and Genji fireflies on the uppermost reaches of the Shimanto River
The Shimanto River, which flows through the western part of Kochi Prefecture, has long been called the last clear river in Japan. The Takahi Chinkage Bridge (高樋沈下橋), also known as the Ohmata no Chinkage Bridge, located at the uppermost reaches of the Shimanto River, and Genji fireflies. A sunken bridge is a bridge without parapets that is submerged under the water to prevent it from being washed away in times of heavy flooding. I went down to the riverbank to photograph the summer scene along the river, looking upstream. The cherry tree on the right is highlighted by the headlights of the occasional passing car.
