Gamo tideland
The Gamo tideland was designated as a national special protection area for birds and animals and was said to be a "paradise for migratory birds. The pine forests and reed beds that once existed were all lost in the earthquake, and although there were signs of recovery, the land readjustment projects that accompanied the restoration work have greatly damaged the biodiversity that was on the way to recovery. Currently, citizens' groups are engaged in steady restoration activities.
