UK: Teacher takes part in groundbreaking clinical trial after melanoma diagnosis
UK - April 25, 2024
A music teacher who had a "bump on his head" for around a decade is taking part in a groundbreaking clinical trial after being diagnosed with a large melanoma.
Steve Young, 52, from Stevenage, was shocked to discover he had cancer after being misdiagnosed by a GP and dermatologist, neither of whom thought he had anything serious.
He is part of a trial led by University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (UCLH) into a new mRNA anti-cancer jab from Moderna, combined with Merck's immunotherapy drug Keytruda.
