In anticipation of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit to be held in Yokohama in November, Kanagawa Prefectural Police and others conducted a large-scale security drill in Kanazawa Ward of the city on November 6. Approximately 1,100 police officers and riot police from the Kanagawa Prefectural Police, the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department, and the Kanto Regional Police Headquarters participated in the drill, which included protecting dignitaries, disposing of explosives, and suppressing rioting groups of civilians.
