Juvenile black-crowned night heron
Juvenile black-crowned night heron (Nycticorax nycticorax) perched on a branch. This stocky heron is found throughout a large part of the world including Europe, Asia, and North and South America. Adults are usually a pale grey with black cap and back. Red eyes. Juveniles are brown and streaky with yellow eyes. They feed nocturnally for fish, frogs and other prey.
