Noriko Takamado, the second daughter of the Takamado family, receives the blessing of marriage from Their Majesties the Emperor and Empress at the Choken-no-Miki ceremony. She wore a long white dress with the Order of the Precious Crown of Peonies on her left breast and a tiara in her hair, and expressed her gratitude in her address to the Emperor and Empress, saying, "I would like to thank you for your deep and loving guidance over these many years. His Majesty the Emperor said, "Congratulations. I hope that the two of you will continue to nurture your love and build a good family. After the ceremony, Their Majesties and Princess Noriko shared a farewell cup of kunenshu (black soybeans boiled down to a liquid), and then put chopsticks to the celebratory meal. The ceremony took place in the Pine Room of the Imperial Palace on the afternoon of October 2, 2014. The photo was published in the morning edition on October 3.
