Japan's First Jet Passenger Plane
First public showing of the "MRJ
Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd. and its subsidiary Mitsubishi Aircraft Corporation held a rollout ceremony for the Mitsubishi Regional Jet (MRJ), the first domestically produced small jet passenger plane. This is the first domestically produced passenger plane in half a century, since the YS-11, the first propeller-driven passenger plane after World War II. The aircraft will undergo further ground tests and is scheduled to make its first flight between April and June 2015. MHI Chairman Hideaki Omiya attends the ceremony on the afternoon of October 18, 2014, in Toyoyama-cho, Aichi Prefecture.
