Princess Kako turns 20
Greeting Their Majesties in formal attire
Kako, the second daughter of Prince and Princess Akishino, celebrated her 20th birthday on the 29th, and attended her coming-of-age ceremony at the Imperial Palace. She is the second of the four grandchildren of Their Majesties the Emperor and Empress to reach the age of majority, following Kako's older sister, Mako (23). On the morning of the same day, after visiting the Three Imperial Palaces, where the ancestors of the Imperial Family and others are enshrined, Kako received the Grand Cordon of the Order of the Precious Crown from His Majesty the Emperor at the palace. In the afternoon, after greeting Their Majesties the Emperor and Empress, he went to the entrance of the palace. Dressed in formal attire, wearing a white robe with a gold thread floral pattern on the robe décolleté, a tiara, and the decoration, Princess Kako smiled and responded to the congratulations from the press.
