On March 1, the Tokyo Metropolitan Government announced a plan to redevelop the Meiji Jingu Gaien area centered on the National Stadium as a sports hub, replacing the Jingu Stadium and the adjacent Chichibunomiya Rugby Stadium after the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics are held.
