Special Fees Explosive Eruption on Kuchinoerabu Island Residents ordered to evacuate off island
May 29, 2015, Kagoshima, Japan - Mount Shindake, a volcano on the southern Japanese island of Kuchinoerabujima, erupted around 10am on Friday morning. Japan's Meteorological Agency issued a level 5 alert at 10:07am, prompting the evacuation of Kuchinoerabujima's 130-140 residents. No injuries or damage were reported in the immediate aftermath. This video shows a scuba diver recording the eruption of Mount Shindake from off the coast of Yakushima Island.
