Voting age lowered to 18
Revised Public Office Election Law passed.
June 17, 2015, Tokyo, Japan - A bill to lower the minimum voting age to 18 from 20 passes the Upper House during a plenary session in the Diet in Tokyo on Some 2.4 million 18- and 19-year-olds will get their first chance to vote in next year's House of Councilors election.
