The private residence of Mr. Hatoyama is called Otowa Goten or Hatoyama Goten. The Hatoyama residence first appeared in Otowa, Tokyo, in 1924, when Ichiro was 41 years old. Ichiro was 41 years old. He was a member of the House of Representatives and a member of the Tokyo City Council, and was just beginning to gain weight as a politician. His friend Shinichiro Okada designed the building. It is an Englishstyle Westernstyle building with two floors above ground and one below total floor space 900 square meters made of reinforced concrete. The construction cost was 160,000 yen. At the time, the starting salary for a college graduate bank employee was about 80 yen.
