Security Bill, the offensive and defense are at a standstill.
Opposition parties counter with a series of censure motions
Plenary session of the upper house of the Diet proceeds to debate the security bills for a vote. The debate on the security bill, which has been the biggest focus of this session of the Diet, began at the plenary session of the House of Councillors in the early morning of March 19, with the vote on the bill. The bill is expected to be passed and enacted with a majority vote by the Liberal Democratic Party, New Komeito, Genki, Next Generation, and Reform Party. The passage of the bill will allow the exercise of the right of collective self-defense, which was not allowed under the previous interpretation of the Constitution. Japan's postwar security policy will mark a historic turning point. Deliberations in the Special Committee of the House of Representatives and the House of Councillors reached a total of approximately 220 hours, making it the longest deliberation on a security-related law in recorded history.
