South Korea - History Textbook Issue
Demonstration by junior high and high school students in Seoul
Protest against the introduction of a state-approved history textbook, Oct 24, 2015 : South Korean middle and high school students attend a protest against South Korean government's plan for state-approved history textbook in Seoul, South Korea. Hundreds of students demonstrated as they insisted that the state-approved history textbook would glorify pro-Japanese collaborators during the Japanese colonial rule (1910-45) in Korea and dictatorial regimes in contemporary history of South Korea. A placard (R) reads,"Juveniles oppose glorifying pro-Japanese collaborators and dictatorial regimes, distortion of history and the state-approved history textbook".
