It is also one of the first trains in the JR East fleet to be fitted with oilfree compressors enabling it to reach speeds of 120kmh but it will only run a maximum 90kmh on the Yamanote Line. For now there will only be one of the new model trains operating on the loop service that serves over 3.6 million passengers everyday.
